Curvy Kate: Angel

Arvostelen nyt Curvy Katen Angel-liivin. Vaikka kyseessä onkin lopetettu malli, sitä on saatavilla vielä ainakin Brastopista ja Ebaysta, josta olen omani ostanut. Curvy Katen toppaamattomat rintsikat perustuvat kaikki samaan malliin, joten tästä arvostelusta on hyötyä myös muita CK:n rintsikoita ostellessa.

Kyseessä on siis CK:n mukaan balconnette. Paskan marjat, sanon minä. Oikeassa koossa (kuten omani, vaikka voisin isomman rintani mukaan käyttää vielä kokoa isompaakin!) CK:n toppaamattomat liivit ovat mielestäni ihan perinteisiä full cup -liivejä. Mikäli saat siis kunnon rintavaon näissä liiveissä, olet ehdottomasti liian pienessä kuppikoossa.

Näiden rintsikoiden ulkonäöstä minulla on vain hyvää sanottavaa! Kuvio ja väritys ovat tosi nättejä, ja jotenkin liivissä on kivaa burleski-henkeä. Erityisesti pidän sivussa olevista korsettinyöritysnauhoista. Ne ovat niiiiiiin nätit! Olkaimet ovat tukevat ja sopivan jämäkät, tykkään niistä. Yläreunassa kulkevan koristenauhan vuoksi suosittelen kuitenkin ottamaan normaalia kokoasi ainakin yhden isomman kupin, sillä nauha ei veny yhtään. Omat liivini ovat koossa 90HH.

Valitettavasti nämä liivit eivät kuitenkaan ihan parhaalla tavalla sovi minulle. Keskiosa on liian korkea: se näkyy monien paitojeni kaula-aukosta ja ennen kaikkea vaikuttaa istuvuuteen, koska rintani ovat hyvin lähekkäin toisiaan. Minulle sopiikin sen takia paremmin keskeltä matalat kaarituet. Olen istuvuutta parantaakseni ommellut keskiosaa kapeammaksi: ompelu näkyykin ainakin ensimmäisessä kuvassa ja se monesti parantaa rintsikoiden istuvuutta ja on maailman helpoin tehdä: nipistät vain keskiosaa sormillasi ja ompelet sen kapeammaksi. Näin saat rinnat hieman lähemmäksi toisiaan, kaarituki ei enää samalla lailla hierrä rintakehää ja kuppeihin tulee hieman lisää tilaa.

Haluan vielä käsitellä hieman ensimmäisessä kuvassa kupissa näkyvää löysyyttä toisella puolella. Kuten monella naisella, minunkin rintani ovat keskenään hieman erikokoiset/muotoiset. Tämä on täysin ok, ja rintaliivejä ostettaessa kannattaa ostaa isomman rinnan mukaan. Sitten voi halutessaan laittaa toiselle puolelle toppauksen. Itseäni asia ei häiritse. Kuvassa näkyvä löysyys kupissa EI ole useimmiten edes merkki liian isosta kupista, vaan se on vain merkki siitä, että rintasi muoto ja rintaliivin muoto eivät täysin vastaa toisiaan. Se ei ole vaarallista, ja aina kannattaa ostaa mieluummin liian iso kuppikoko kuin liian pieni. Meille vain syydetään mediassa ja rintaliiviliikkeissä ajatusta siitä, että rintsikat ovat sopivat kuin tissit suorastaan pursuilevat kupista.

In English: I'm going to review CK's Angel bra even though it's not being made anymore. The reason for that is that it's still widely available in many places, like on Ebay and Brastop. Also, Curvy Kate's unpadded bras are all based on the same basic cut and the difference in their fit is mostly from the fabrics and other details.

Firstly, let's discuss the look. I LOVE the way this bra looks! It's fun, sexy and it has the same kind of burlesque feel as the Showgirls range but with an impressive size range. This is exactly what I want from a bra! It's the kind of design you could see in any lingerie boutique, it doesn't look like many bras designed for the fuller bust.

On to the fit. Unfortunately, I don't get a long with CK bras. The central gore is too high for my close set breasts and therefore it doesn't really anchor against my ribcage. Don't get me wrong: it is against my ribcage but I feel there just isn't enough room for it between my breasts and therefore it rubs and moves around a bit. I have altered the central gore narrower but it doesn't help the issue enough. 

Also, there's a bit of looseness on the edge of the cup on my smaller breast but I don't mind that. Actually, this is something I'd like to discuss: this kind of loosenes usually just means that your breast shape isn't perfectly compatible with the bra cup's shape. It really doesn't matter anything since it doesn't show under clothes and the top part of the cup doesn't usually do any supporting for your breasts. If you have different sized/shaped breasts like mine, I suggest you fit your bras to suit your bigger breast to get the full support. You can always add padding to the looser cup! The media and bad bra fitters just give us the impression that a well fitting bra is something that makes your breasts bulge out of your bra.

The band is definitely firmer than on Romance which is the other CK bra I've tried. I suggest going up a cup because of the pretty lacing on the top edge: it doesn't stretch at all. Like always, I like the materials CK uses. The straps are pretty and not too wide but very strong, soft and not too stretchy!

The shape I get is ok once I altered the central gore. Before it was a bit east-and-west but now it's quite round and centered. I just have to say that I'm so depressed I don't get along with the CK's unpadded bras. I wish they'd make some other styles as well in their impressive size range! Even though they market the unpadded bras as balconnettes, I think they are full cup bras since in the right size they cover almost all of the breast. Curvy Kate, where are your plunges, low balconnettes padded and push up bras for big breasts?
