In English: I hear often, that bras shouldn't leave any marks on the skin. That isn't true. Your bras should leave marks just like your socks and jeans do. As long as they fade away after spending some time without a bra, everything's just ok.
In the other hand, bras shouldn't leave permanent marks that hurt because the bra rubs the skin so that it causes bruising, scars or wounds. If you get those, chances are that you're wearing a too big band. If the band is too loose, it won't stay in place and it rubs the skin. You might also have too small cups if you get problems in that area.
You can also use the normal red marks in determining your cup size. When you take off your bra at the end of the day, see where those marks of underwiring is. Are they on top of a breast tissue or are they on your ribcage? If the marks are on your breast tissue, you should go up in cup size. If the cup size is good in other ways but the marks still lie on your breast tissue, you might want to try broader underwires, like Panache or Curvy Kate.
Good points, I was just thinking about this! I get red marks from all my clothes - bras, socks, underwear, pants, etc - it's completely normal. Of course, rubbing deep red marks are no good. I think this is particularly a problem for thinner women who don't have much "padding" in their ribcage area and who have difficulty finding a band size that's small enough. With the right size bra, though, everyday red marks on the skin are normal!
ReplyDeleteThat's exactly right. I have to use a very tight band as I have very big breasts and also a lot of fat tissue that compresses, so I always get red marks. But as long as nothing hurts, it's just fine! :-)
DeleteI totally agree with you! As I have marks from socks for hours afterwards (I have sensitive skin) why would I not have marks from bras?
ReplyDeleteHowever now I really have to go look at where my marks ends as I know I am in a too small bra. Maybe the marks will tell me how far off in cup sizes I am :D
